The SCA...
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to recreating and researching pre-17th-century European history. We began 32 years ago at U.C. Berkley as a group of students interested in the Renaissance and are now found on six of seven continents, which we fondly refer to as the "Known World". This international reach is divided into 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members. Our members dress in clothing of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, attend events often including martial combat tournaments exhibiting the skills of sword and rapier combat, arts exhibitions, training classes and workshops, dancing, bardic competitions, feasts, Equestrian feats of skill, and more. Each kingdom has a "royal" court which both directs many of the functions and directions in which these current Middle Ages are growing, as well as giving awards to those members which have shown diligence in striving to provide service, and/or excel in the various skills which are prized within the SCA.
All persons interested in such study are invited to use these pages to obtain information about the SCA.
